Cardinal Directions
Cardinal Directions is a set of zines made from barkcloth paper that observes and contends with the movement of Ugandan artists and activists in response to conditions of oppressions. The work includes sets of prints that extract moments, texts and images from the stories of South – Those Who Stay, North – Those Who Return and East – Those in Exile. South and West draw from the personal experiences of a Ugandan artist and a Ugandan activist. North narrates the experience of returning to Uganda using migratory themes. East creates collage and found poems from early editions of Transition Magazine, interwoven with the story of its exiled founder, Rajat Neogy.
